Maresme Medical Association

The Barcelona Institute of Traumatology is a medical group dedicated to the pursuit of efficient diagnosis and treatment to help people improve their quality of life. In this group, we have been working for 35 years in traumatology and classical orthopedics, which is how we began in the 1980s, and then with minimally invasive medicine to solve problems such as haliux valgus (bunions) without hospitalization. We also use arthroscopies, which access these joints through two very small incisions, with innovative results.

Currently, the group led by Dr. Fernando Kirchner is comprised of specialized nurses, orthopedic surgeons, sports medicine specialists, biologists, and radiologists dedicated exclusively to treating both cervical and lumbar spine conditions. Through noninvasive protocols consisting of the application of protein-rich plasma to herniated and protruding discs, degenerative disc lesions, and osteoarthritis in the cervical and lumbar spine, patients are able to receive this treatment on an outpatient basis under sedation.

All of these treatments require a professional training program and a wealth of technology. Thanks to technological innovations in other fields, including regenerative medicine, these treatments make possible results that were unthinkable 25 years ago.

The medical management team, community manager, administration, and coordinators are responsible for evaluating each case and keeping each patient informed at all times regarding their follow-up.
